There is a bit of science throughout the book, but I didn't mind as I have a small amount of knowledge so I could follow along without too much going over my head. I've abandoned so many books of late because of annoying performances, but Bray nails this one. I don't want to give anything away. The book finally worked its way to the top of my stack. Bob wakes up a century later to find that corpsicles have been declared to be without rights, and he is now the property of the state.
This story will take your breath away faster than a hull breech. Okay, not nuclear, but extremely hazardous. He must deal with finding shelter, food, water and breathable air, among other things. Who was your favorite character and why? After two years of loneliness, he gets to hang out with his astronaut buddies yet once again. I can't criticise though as it amused me so much. Kind of reminded me of the movie Gravity except on Mars. Emerging from its hiding place in the hills, the great Traction City is chasing a terrified little town across the wastelands.
So long as the pay is right, he's the man for the job. He works tirelessly and doesn't give up on his situation, and then there's his sense of humor! Since the book has been picked up by Random House there is no print version available right now, but the audio is very, very good. His delivery of Mark's sarcasm and humor was spot on. He starts intending to pretty badly ration his food to earn it till the next Ares goal Ares 4 which is numerous years in the future. I have over 450 books in my Audible library, and this book is one of my top 10 reads of all time.
Weir has created a great character. . This is Apollo 13 times ten. I was initially disturbed when I heard the narrator's voice and reading style. This book is a lot of fun.

Will his resourcefulness be enough to overcome the impossible odds against him? So freakin' listen to it already!!! As with most survival stories, it becomes a man against nature theme.
Finally and without giving too much away you will hear how Mark attempts a treacherous excursion across the planet to attempt a rendezvous with those on a mission to save his life. Mark starts to plan his potato farm. Did it make you laugh or cry? The hero is one of the most engaging characters I have read for a long time. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. Mark after that discovers his ways of interaction as well as locates that the antenna on the communications satellite is damaged; it turns out that a piece was exactly what struck him in the black blizzard. And did I mention the humor? Such brilliant dry humour at times making light of a serious situation. Give it to your friends and they will be entertained.

Bray was excellent - intonation perfectly reflecting the dialogue, story and characters. There is a lot of science at first but it is of the sort that if you follow it, fantastic, if you don't, then it isn't going to detract from the plot. At first of their communications, Mark finds 2 main things: one is that it is going to take 4 years for a new objective to find as well as save him, which to survive up until the mission. Even after having watched the movie many times, I loved this audiobook and am so glad I gave it a chance.
